Dermatology deals with all types of skin conditions, from acne to cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) to melanoma (skin cancer) to cosmetic surgery. We see patients of all ages and backgrounds for skin conditions.
A typical practice setting is in either academia or private practice. Normal business hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, for many practitioners, with some open on Saturday or with evening hours. Dermatologic care is primarily outpatient, though dermatologists can provide valuable insight into rashes and skin findings in hospitalized patients. Most commonly, dermatologists diagnose and treat skin disease, performing in-office procedures such as skin biopsies, injections, and cryotherapy, as well as performing excisions of benign and malignant lesions.
Our specialty is unique in the visual aspects of skin diseases. We deal with minor cases that require little intervention, as well as serious cases that are life-threatening. There is a wide range of services we provide to keep things interesting. It isn't all acne!
